  • 4-5 amlas (Indian gooseberries), washed and chopped
  • One small onion, chopped
  • 2-3 garlic cloves, chopped
  • One green chilli, chopped
  • One tablespoon oil
  • One teaspoon of cumin seeds
  • One teaspoon of mustard seeds
  • Salt to taste
  • Water as needed

Instructions:

  1. Heat the oil in a pan and add cumin seeds and mustard seeds. Let them splutter.
  2. Add chopped onion, garlic and green chilli to the pan and sauté for 2-3 minutes.
  3. Add chopped Amla and sauté for another 5-6 minutes on low-medium heat.
  4. Add salt to taste and mix well. Turn off the heat and let the mixture cool down.
  5. Once the mixture has cooled down, transfer it to a blender or food processor and blend it until smooth.
  6. If the chutney is too thick, add water as needed to get the desired consistency.
  7. Taste and adjust the seasoning if necessary.
  8. Serve this amla chutney with parathas, Idli, and dhoklas and as a sandwich spread.
